Statement:

The idea of healing and inspiration from Nature are central ideas for this painting. I focused on Helen Mayo Park because it is in danger of being turned into a car park or council storage area. Dr Helen Mayo needs to be commemorated for her healing work for women and children in South Australia. My son, in the foreground, always a contemplator of the small and great miracles of Creation, ponders on a gum leaf. The Royal Hospital, in the background, is also a place of healing. The painting is on the curved surface of a furniture item I rescued from the side of the road to give new life to. The curves refer to our place on the surface of the Earth.
