Statement:

I focus in paint on the enormous scale of the tree, through this work I explore the glossy green surface of leaves, the dry brown underside. Dark roots in shade and punctured by spots of light, the light becomes shards in the Womad third day rising dust. These trees turn us into children or elves, reduced in scale by its volume, looking for doors in bark, lost in woods sleeping covered in dry leaves, the roots are shelter, play, happiness. The leaves fold like greeting cards. I lie underneath and hear figs fall down into dry leaves the and wonder if I can eat them.
